I swear to god, you’d think I’m trying to choose the most random and obscure things to obsess over.

*goes back to sitting in the corner babbling to myself about David Bowie and Francis Crawford of Lymond*

Ha! Live action Japanese musicals based on manga about middle school tennis teams. I got you beat in a walk ;-).

P.S. Watched the first one last night that didn’t have subtitles available. Still enjoyed it. Very far gone.

Wow–you really are far gone! Could you follow the plot??? (Let me guess … the protagonist tennis team won?)

They’re basically retelling the story from the manga (which differs from the anime, cause I know you care ;-), down to some specific lines, so I can pretty much follow it having read the manga. It would be more fun know what they were actually saying, of course — but it was still good because my favorite character had !drama! and !family conflict!, which meant several solos and kicking ass during his tennis match. Good times!

And yep, the protagonist team won as per usual. (Spoiler: they always win.) It’s really the journey and not the destination with this one. ;-)

I tried Lymond once, and I think I read two pages and closed the book. I really should give it another chance, but it just seemed so…hard. *g*

You just have to keep reading through the confusing parts, with the trust that it’ll get good and all make sense in the end. Everyone has trouble with it to start, but if you keep going it’s so, so worth it.

(I mean, seriously, my mom read, understood, and enjoyed the series, and she went into it not even knowing that Mary Queen of Scots was a real person!)

Plus, canon slash! And pure hurt/comfort crack! And a diverse array of strong, interesting female characters!

    Okay, I’ll stop now.

Hee! Hey, I’ll read Lymond if you watch Farscape. ;-)

    You’re on!

(But stupid Netflix isn’t offering season one of Farscape, so it might be a while…)

Oh, that’s weird – I wonder why? Hopefully they’ll offer it, soon.

And I guess I’m off to the library. :-)
