A Tragically Unfulfilled Wanksplosion
From SFX’s review of Russell T. Davies’ new book:
Ianto was going to die in Torchwood season two, not Owen - the scripts were changed at the very last minute.
OMG. Can you imagine the wank? The fangirl heads exploding everywhere? IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE BEST THING EVER.
Well, except then we’d still be stuck with old lizard face. Hmmm. I still think they should’ve killed off Ianto, though, because Gorman is a better actor and the wank would have been hilarious.
Current Mood:
amused &
disappointed

WOW! I think I might have to post this on my journal! Wonder what made them change.
Anyway, I don’t think I would have been broken up about Ianto either. The only person I sniffled at was Tosh.

I was very sad for Tosh. It was weird; her death felt like the “real” one, with all the emotions to go along with it, whereas Owen’s death was kind of shoehorned in, like, oh yeah, and he died too. Which I suppose is largely because they’d already killed him once that season!

I think it would have been a bit tragic to see yet another gay relationship end in sudden death.

I’d agree if this were the only gay relationship on the show, but Torchwood is teeming with gay relationships, and I’m sure they’d replace Ianto with another male love interest for Jack.

Oh god. I - I wish it had happened just for the wank.

Exactly. I think Torchwood is an abominable excuse for a television show. The only thing it manages to do well is bring the cracked-out lulz, and killing Ianto would’ve succeeded brilliantly!

NOW I’M JUST GOING TO CRY OVER WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN.

Oh, this would have been rather brilliant. I don’t mind Ianto, really I don’t but Gareth isn’t the best actor ever. Burn is a better actor. Though he does bear a resemblance to Willem Dafoe, who I find absolutely terrifying

I do have to admit that I find Burn Gorman a bit painful to look at. But since I spend a lot more time laughing at the fandom than watching the show, I think the wank generated by Ianto’s death would’ve ultimately given me more entertainment than the displeasure of having to continue to look at Gorman’s face (which is somewhat ameliorated by the fact that he was the best actor of the bunch, however hideous his visage may be).

Oh, I would have taken a lot of glee from his death too. The shit
storm that would have followed would have been worth the price of
admission. I hate the mindless fawning that surrounds the Jack/Ianto
ship and would have enjoyed the meltdown.

That would have been interesting! Very much fandom go boom. :D
(HMPH! I commented earlier today, but I’ve no idea where it went.)

I’m sorry! I had to turn my spam blocker back on because I got a big influx of spam, and unfortunately it caught your comment. It looks like yours was the only one. I’ve restored it; if that happens again, don’t worry, it’ll just take a little longer for your comment to show up, as I check the spam folder regularly and restore any legit comments that get incorrectly flagged.
