LJ Elections and an Awesome “Life on Mars” Vid

lj-elections-and-an-awesome-life-on-mars-vid

While I appreciate that fandom is banding together to elect a pro-fandom candidate in the LJ elections, I would encourage people to take the time to learn about the prospective candidates. I’ve seen a lot of people voting in alphabetical order or for most recognizable name, without realizing that, say, current lead [info]legomymalfoy supported LiveJournal during Strikethrough, while [info]rm made some of the most calm and articulate arguments against it.

You might want to consider reading their platforms and updating your vote.

(Yeah, I don’t actually think that this election will matter. But I like to live in hope, and if anyone can do something positive with the position, it’s [info]rm.)

In happy fannish news, this Life on Mars vid, set to the Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage,” is a thing of beauty. A pastiche of a pastiche! There’s got to be an essay about postmodernism in that. (Thanks to the person who linked it from [info]lifein1973.)

Man, that “Sabotage” video was amazing. BBC should have used something like that to promote the actual series.

I’m going to give the American version a go, but I know it won’t be nearly this awesome.

I’m dreading the American version. That big hulking dude is no Sam Tyler!

Love that vid! I have too much to do this week(y’know, packing and whatnot), but man, it makes me want to re-watch the series again.

Hon, I wanted to comment on your apartment post but everytime I tried it said the post did not exist. I even tried logging in, to no avail.

Anyway, the one you loved sounds excellent. A small bathroom and lack of closet space can be annoying (as I’ll personally testify), but both can be dealt with. Closet space, in particular, isn’t too bad if you’re willing to invest in enough storage furniture.

    Happy hunting!

I’m sorry about that. I have to “friend” you here before you can see locked entries (otherwise any random person could sign up and see everything). You should be able to see everything now (my computer was screwing up and I didn’t see that you’d signed up until just now).

Anyway… thank you for your advice! I actually saw another one today that I might like better… it’s bigger, has closets, and is much closer to the train, but it’s more expensive, not as bright, and not newly renovated–everything’s kind of old and crumbly. So hard to decide!
