Vegan Twinkies and the Cutest Boots Ever

vegan-twinkies-and-the-cutest-boots-ever

You know what’s the best thing about running SuperVegan? FREE DESSERTS. There’s this place called Vegan Honey who make the most amazing vegan desserts and mail them to you. They’ve got TWINKIES. (You don’t realize the awesomeness of Twinkies until you go twelve years without one.) Check out the SuperVegan review and the Vegan Honey online shop.

Also, I bought the most amazing boots at MooShoes on Saturday. Just… look at these things… they’re like Victorian-themed Goth ankle boots. Normally I would never spend $120 for a pair of shoes, but it was like the perfect convergence of reasons to do so:

* I like supporting vegan businesses.
* And they were having a pet adoption event, so there were adorable puppies and kittens everywhere.
* And they had free vegan cupcakes!
* And 10% of the purchase price went to fund animal rescue organizations.
* And my friend Anne was there raving about how awesome the boots were.
* And they were SO CUTE.

IT WAS PEER PRESSURE. I COULDN’T RESIST.

Anyway, now I have a completely awesome pair of boots that I’ll probably only wear three times a year. But at least they’ll fit easily into luggage and they should last a long time. (AND THEY’RE SO CUTE OMG.)

Oooo… you know, I’m not Vegan, but those Twinkies look good. And I had no idea people were selling food on Etsy! Cool!

They are so good. And I’ll bet they’d also be appealing to people who want the Twinkie taste without all the artificial ingredient chemical crap in real Twinkies. (Plus, they’ve got chocolate-dipped ones. Mmmmm… chocolate…)

That’s *exactly* what I was thinking… I’ve gone on a mostly organic diet, so there’s a lot of those childhood guilty pleasures I no longer indulge in.

When you order something, do they provide nutritional info at all for their foods? I didn’t see anything on the page you linked… I guess I could always just email them. I’m currently doing Weight Watchers, so I’d mostly want to know how badly they’d be blowing my diet (although there’s plenty of room for the occasional treat).

Hmmm, I don’t see nutritional info on the site, but I’m sure you could email them and ask. Kymberlie (who runs it) seems really nice.

    Awesome. :)

If you’re going to order, I also really recommend the pecan sticky buns. They reminded me of the really delicious ones my mom used to make. Pretty much everything they sell is good.

dude, twinkies are gross and waxy tasting nowadays–those are misty-water-colored memories you got there. revel in the knowledge that what you just ate is a million times better and tastier.

and DAMN YOU for posting a link for shoes. as if i didn’t already feel guilty about all the shoes i have now…

good thing i’m leaving soon; maybe i’ll forget about them by the time i return.

Heh, the last time I had a Twinkie I was… well, somewhere under the age of thirteen. I don’t think my taste buds were very discerning at that point!

We should totally go to MooShoes next time you’re here. They’ve got this adorable shop on the Lower East Side (or is it SoHo? I get my neighborhoods confused). All the shoes are vegan. It’s pretty much all too expensive for me, though, but very fun to look at! (Er, not to tempt you further or anything…)

How long are you going to be away?

yeah….looooong trip. lots of driving and dramamine. and flying.

i should be able to go use the internet cafe in westport, and probably when we go visit Terry and Paula in AU, and i’ll be able to do some web on my phone and get my emails on it, but answering emails is the same as texting, lol, so if i answer any via phone they won’t be long ones!

I know, aren’t they awesome? It was hard to justify the expense, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen vegan boots like that before.
